Easton fire hall photo shoot at center of controversy

Actor Tony Napoli, an Easton Area High School graduate, says he arranged a photo shoot for headshots of himself and a female model Thursday night in Easton's fire department. A witness claims the woman was shirtless during several pictures, and the mayor wants police to investigate.

Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr. plans to find out whether photos shot Thursday at the city's central fire station were headshots of a former city man or racy photos of a female model.

"I was just looking through my window and I saw straight to the back (of the station) and I could see very clear the situation that was north face jackets on clearance happening," Butler said."I saw a woman walking back toward the table and she had on a red bra with suspenders and camouflage pants and she was on top of the table," Butler said. "The photographer kept shooting, one after another."Butler, who said she was angered to see a public building used for racy photos, said she would provide statements to city officials who want them.

Two of Butler's friends, who declined to give their names, provided similar accounts.

One said she saw the flashes and the woman when she took her 1yearold son for a closer look at a cheap north faces firetruck. The other said he was in the truck with Butler.

Napoli, whose acting credits include parts in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "In With Thieves" and "Consignment," said the shoot was for personal portfolio headshots of him and a photographer who lives near Allentown and is also a female model.

He declined to say the model's name or what she wore for the shoot, but said he got permission from the fire department."What might be provocative to some people isn't provocative to other people," said Napoli, who couldn't remember who gave him permission."I'll just say they were headshots and we had the fire gear on," he said. "We were shooting inside a fire house and we were shooting fire gear."That fire house was very accommodating," Napoli added. "They were a fine bunch of gentleman that said 'yes' to everything I asked."

Fire Chief John Bast said the shoot was approved on short notice for headshots of Napoli, 30, a 1997 Easton Area High School graduate.

Bast said he learned of the shoot from the duty officer, the firefighter in charge that night, on the day of the shoot. He said he was told it was for headshots of Napoli and approved it.

Bast wasn't at the shoot but he relayed information Saturday from the duty officer, whom he declined to name."I spoke to the duty officer that night.

Napoli said he also has appeared in 13 television commercials, including ones for Bud Light Lime and Nikon cameras, and 14 music videos, including ones with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado.
