The 10th Annual BacktoSchool Summit is organized by the Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives located in Opelousas. The theme for this year's event is "Discovering the Winner in You!"



The event will take place at the Blackham Coliseum, 2330 Johnston Street, in Lafayette. Featured speakers will include Danna Andrus "Dr. Truth"; Hollis Conway, twotime Olympic Medalist; Byron Starks, Coach and Mentor; and Den Hussey, Motivational Speaker. Additionally, there will be great performance by Shalyric Self.



The Southwest Center for Rural Initiatives is a satellite arm of the SU Ag Center.

In particular there are two schools in Baton Rouge (Dalton Elementary, and Glen Oaks Middle) that are under state jurisdiction along with all Catholic Schools (St Thomas Moore and St Francis Xavier). Their dismissal times differ from those in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.



BATON ROUGE Lleaders from the State of Louisiana, NASA, LSU and UNO recently committed to a fiveyear extension of an agreement to support and develop the National north face fleece jacket clearance Center for Advanced Manufacturing, or NCAM, which is located at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans.



NASA is building the Orion MultiPurpose Crew Vehicle and plans to build components of its nextgeneration Space Launch System at Michoud, which supported the Space Shuttle program through its final mission in 2011. At the same time, the State of Louisiana and UNO have provided major tooling, advanced materials resources, and research and development assistance to back both NASA's exploration and discovery mission and the growth of advanced manufacturing in Louisiana. That partnership, in place since 1999, continues through 2017 with the latest agreement by the parties.



BATON ROUGE As one of his final duties as chancellor, Michael V. Martin presided over LSU's 278th commencement exercises, where 686 students received degrees and alumnus and actor Michael Papajohn delivered the commencement address.



In recognition of his time serving as LSU's eighth chancellor, interim LSU System President William Jenkins recognized Martin with a proclamation of his four years on campus and presented him with a University Medal.



"Chancellor Michael V. Martin, Louisiana State University is pleased and privilege to honor you for extraordinary, distinguished and steadfast leadership as LSU's eighth chancellor," Jenkins read from a citation honoring Martin.
